Following a presentation by Nicki Gilder, Oxfordshire's Badminton Development Officer, Jo Patterson from Vale of White Horse DC and Steve Kemp representing the County Sports Partnership, Evenlode Badminton Club have joined only 2 other badminton clubs in the WHOLE of Oxfordshire to be awarded with Silver Club Clubmark. This accreditation process PROVES the club to be a well run, safe environment, offering development options for Juniors.
The Award was presented to Lee Ackrell who had led the Club through the Accreditation process in front of a good club turnout. Both Nicki and Jo reiterated the importance of knowing that the club had achieved Clubmark when putting it forward as a safe place for parents to let their youngsters go to. The Vale of White Horse DC are always looking for clubs to link holiday programmes into, and Evenlode will now be on the list!. Following a closely supervised programme, the Club Committee members attended workshops in Club Management, Child Protection and First Aid, all adding to the way the club is run. The club coaches also achieved a higher level of Coaches Award, giving their members access to 4 Level 1 coaches and 3 Level 2 coaches, a fantastic achievement by a local club. Steve Kemp has worked closely with the coaches enabling them to access funding to help with the costs involved with attaining the new coaching qualifications.
